Dr Thodur Vasudevan, FRACS, Chair

Dr Thodur Vasudevan has spent nearly two decades in vascular surgery in New Zealand and been part of a great team at the Alfred ed hospital. Apart from being the Director of the unit for six years, his major experience in leadership was being part of the Board of Vascular Surgery at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and especially being the Board chair for three years, followed by the role as ANZSVS President for two years. On the professional front, he has led several academic projects and uniquely in a number of ‘first- in -man’ trials for the hospital. Thodur has fostered research and headed a fledgling academic department at Waikato Hospital helping with two masters and one PhD to date.

Dr Nedal Katib, FRACS

Dr Nedal Katib, FRACS

Dr Nedal Katib is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospitals in NSW. He is a Lecturer at UNSW School of Medicine and has a particular interest in research and education.

Dr Nedal Katib has been on the executive committee of the ANZSVS since 2022. He has held the chair of communications and the chair of treasurer. He has a strong commitment to the health advocacy of our committees and has a focus on ensuring representation and keeping a grassroots approach to engagement.

Dr Lupe Taumoepeau, FRACS

Dr Lupe Taumoepeau, FRACS

Lupe Taumoepeau is a Vascular and Transplant Surgeon at Wellington Hospital, New Zealand. She is also an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, Wellington and an executive member of the Vascular Society of Aotearoa New Zealand. She has a particular interest in prevocational education and research on improving vascular outcomes through multidisciplinary input and optimisation. Lupe is actively involved in mentoring Pacific Island medical students and interns and female junior doctors considering a career in surgery.

Dr Doug Cavaye, FRACS

Dr Doug Cavaye, FRACS

Doug Cavaye is Associate Professor of Surgery, and member of Senate at the University of Queensland. He is founder and chairman of the Vascular Foundation, past-president of the ANZSVS, and examiner in vascular surgery.

Research interests have focused on minimally invasive vascular intervention, with particular regard to intravascular ultrasound imaging. He has published two texts on vascular imaging and catheter-based intervention guidance. He sees the Vascular Foundation as critical to promotion and support of academic vascular surgery in Australia and New Zealand.

Dean Morrison

Dean Morrison

Dean Morrison has 20 years of experience in the accounting and financial sector with a wealth of knowledge on finance-related matters, such as tax compliance and internal accounting.

Dean began as a graduate accountant at a chartered accounting practice in Melbourne in 1993. In 2001 he became an audit manager before becoming chief financial officer at a sport’s insurance underwriting agency remaining in the insurance industry until 2012.

Dean is currently an associate at CHN Herold Ross in East Ringwood.

Dr Greg Jones, PhD

Dr Greg Jones, PhD

Greg is a research professor in the Department of Surgery, Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago (New Zealand). His research has a strong focus on developing improved and equitable cardiovascular disease screening strategies and identifying novel precision medicine markers to improve cardiovascular disease risk prediction.  He is also a member of the executive committee of the Vascular Society of Aotearoa New Zealand.
